HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA:  The North Alabama Chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama (NAPRCA) is seeking local nonprofit organizations who need assistance in their public relations/marketing outreach efforts. This annual volunteer initiative, The PRo Bono Project, provides voluntary communications assistance to the selected nonprofit over the course of the year.

NAPRCA’s PRo Bono Project is open to 501(c)(3) nonprofits located in and around Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Athens, Sand Mountain and the Shoals. The application window is now open and applications will be accepted through April 15, 2022.

Kristen Vaughn, President of the NAPRCA Board of Directors believes the annual initiative is a win-win for everyone involved.

“Nonprofit organizations in North Alabama are mobilizing passion and compassion to serve and enrich our communities. Whether directly or indirectly, we all benefit from this invaluable work,” Mrs. Vaughn shared. “The PRo Bono Project offers NAPRCA’s professional and student members an opportunity to champion one local nonprofit each year by providing free strategic communications and marketing assistance to drive its mission.”

Examples of communication services provided will vary, depending on the non-profit chosen. Some of the guidance and services provided could include plans for internal and external communication outreach, media relations, social media analysis, community engagement plans, donor relations, event planning and more.

The 2021 PRo Bono Project recipient was the Community Free Dental Clinic. Executive Director Julia Nabors said the organization benefited greatly from NAPRCA’s help.

“The website changes not only helped us be able to better market ourselves to donors, but all our patients appreciate the ease of the new website as well. They are saying it is much easier to navigate now that NAPRCA has helped us make updates.” Ms. Nabors continued, “I was so impressed with the simple suggestions and advice given to the clinic. Just a few changes and tweaks made things so much easier for the clinic’s staff, volunteers, and even our patients. Thank you all for your help and time donated to the Community Free Dental Clinic.”

Previous organizations selected for the PRo Bono Project include HEALS, Inc., Huntsville Community Drumline, ARC of Morgan County, Still Serving Veterans, and National Alliance on Mental Illness.
