The Board of the North Alabama chapter of Public Relations Council of Alabama (NAPRCA) is pleased to announce formation of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Under the leadership of Committee Chair Patricia Lloyd, the committee will evaluate the Chapter’s current programs, membership makeup, communications tactics and overall atmosphere to develop a longterm strategic roadmap for D&I initiatives.
Patricia shared, “I’m excited to chair this committee whose goal is to take diversity and inclusion efforts beyond ‘popular rhetoric’ and create actionable items that will help our organization attract members from varying social and ethnic backgrounds, different genders, and sexual orientations who will feel welcome and celebrated. In turn, we will grow a stronger and more effective NAPRCA.”

Development of the committee began in July following a Board discussion on the topic. The meeting brought to light several opportunities for chapter improvement, including a forum for ongoing discussion and planning. The Diversity & Inclusion Committee will work alongside the Board to set measurable goals and objectives, and assist implementation of related tactics.
President Kristen Pepper explained what the Board hopes to accomplish through the committee. “Our chapter is only as strong as our membership, and this committee will be charged with the most important task of ensuring NAPRCA represents the full spectrum of talented, dedicated communication professionals in North Alabama.”
Kristen continued, “With the feedback from current and potential members, as well as insight from community partners, the Diversity & Inclusion committee will help NAPRCA build on our success as an organization that values, and offers value to, the wide variety of practitioners in our community.”
The Board is in the process of building the committee roster. Interested student and professional members are encouraged to email Patricia (email@example.com) and Kristen (firstname.lastname@example.org).
