About NAPRCA

The North Alabama Chapter (NAPRCA) was established in 1973 and is one of the larger active chapters in the Public Relations Council of Alabama.

NAPRCA has about 75 members in Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Sand Mountain and the Shoals, representing corporations, nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions, media, advertising and PR firms as well as solo practitioners.

PRCA’s mission is to promote the ethical practice of public relations among professional practitioners and students, provide for the professional development of members, foster understanding within the community regarding the practice of public relations, and support the community through the use of members’ skills.

The North Alabama chapter is part of a state-wide organization that was originally established in 1956 and has six chapters:

Our Relationship with SPRF

PRCA members are automatically members of our regional organization called The Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) which has 1400 members in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi with their own State organizations:

  • The Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA)
  • The Public Relations Association of Louisiana (PRAL)*
  • The Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM)
  • The Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization (ECPRO)

*PRAL has a newly formed state organization to oversee brand new chapters forming now.  They have existing chapters in Baton Rouge and Central in Alexandria. SPRF holds an annual conference and recognizes outstanding work with Lantern Awards.

Accreditation

SPRF is also the organization that allows PRCA members to participate in the universal accreditation (APR) process conducted through the Universal Accreditation Board.

Governance

NAPRCA’s Bylaws establish our organizational structure including the authority of our Board of Directors.  Our code of ethics and our state organization outlines the rules for judicial procedure.
